Pushing Through.

I can't believe it.
It has been two weeks since I last posted.
I don't even have moving as an excuse!

If I'm honest with you,
I've been kind of dragging around--
moving from one thing to the next,
plowing forward like a work horse.

Feeling rather flat and uninspired.

I stared at the computer screen with no
words to share.
I spent some time with my panels
and have no great work to show for it.

So I decided to take a few days off.
I guess my creativity needed to lie on the couch
and watch Downton Abbey and cooking shows for awhile.

But I'm ready to try again.
 I'm pushing through--
looking for inspiration and encouragement.
The good news is it's all around.
Seek and you will find.

{yes, yes.}
……..

One place I've found some inspiration recently is
in my classroom.

I love how uninhibited kids can be when making art.
I see them slide over into the other side of their brain
and get lost for a while,
letting the creativity flow.
What a great place to be!

So I've decided to take a lesson from them.
I think I've been putting too much pressure on myself
and nothing kills creativity like
too much pressure.
I've put my paint brushes down for a little bit
and am working on a couple of collages.
I've been playing with crayon encaustic and having a blast
making colorful patterns and textures to use
on the collages.

I know the photo isn't great, but aren't they fun?
They remind me of Eric Carle. :)

I'm super excited about these
and look forward to showing you the finished products soon!

Here's to hanging out in the right brain!
