The past week has been a doozy.
Full to the brim, no,
overflowing with lots of good things.
I'd like to share a few highlights with you.
We're savoring every moment of this season, believe me.
And between the girls, there have been three soccer games, too.
……..
Friday afternoon was the opening of Student Art Month at OCAF.
{I mentioned this wonderful event here.}
It is always fun to see what kids all over
our county are creating!
I love the way this student chose to paint
her paper mache!
Packing tape people.
I just love this!!
24 of my students from 1-12 grade have pieces in the exhibit.
Here are some of the self portraits created by my high school students.
Noah with Noah.
I love seeing how excited the kids get when they
see their work on display!
It's one of my favorite teacher moments. :)
……..
Hadley returned Friday afternoon from a 3 day school
field trip to Jekyll Island, GA.
She and several of her friends literally went straight to
church for a weekend long student conference
called The Mix.
About 30 churches were involved
and over 2,000 students participated!
All three of our kids attended
and we hosted Berkley's small group at our home
Friday night through Sunday morning.
12 big (and hungry) boys were camped out in various places.
There was lots of stuff.
And lots of snacks.
{Plus several meals as well.}
We loved every second of it.
Treasuring the moments, people--
they're flying by!!
……..
Sunday afternoon brought down time for some of us.
Sierra and Hadley recharged after The Mix,
while Kevin and I got ready for a small group potluck.
Sunday night.
At our house.
Crazy, I know.
But we had a wonderful time with these new friends.
……..
And the fun doesn't stop here…
Hadley turned 13 on Monday!
There was the traditional birthday breakfast
accompanied by the opening of gifts.
And a requested birthday dinner topped off with
brownies, ice cream and fresh raspberries.
We now have a house full of teenagers.
Unbelieveable!
……..
Wednesday morning, Kevin and Sierra left on a 3 day field trip to Atlanta.
And at 3:30 am this morning,
Berkley left with his classmates for his senior mission trip
to Jamaica!!
{Excited despite the hour. :)}
……..
All this goodness was packed on top of existing work and school schedules.
And it made for days of non-stop action.
This kind of pace is absolutely unsustainable.
But as I look back, I don't see that there's anything that
I think we should have foregone.
Sometimes things just have a way of piling up.
In the past, I've let times like this
completely overwhelm me.
But I'm learning in this year of lasts,
before our son graduates,
to cherish these moments.
The house will be quiet all too soon.
And in the mean time, days like tomorrow where
there's nothing written on the calendar
become special themselves. :)
Happy weekend, wonderful ones!

Your busy days reminds me of when our girls were teens. I loved everyone of those days and wish SO many times that we could go back there. I miss it all. You are wise to cherish each and every moment. Have a restful weekend.
