Springtime.

How are you?
I have missed you!
Life had been full to the brim lately
and has left little time for me to write.
It may continue to look that way until April!

Please know that you are in my thoughts often
and I look forward to more consistent blogging soon.
However, I had to pop in and tell you our latest news!

But first...

It's that time of the year in Georgia.
The daffodils are popping up out of the ground,
buds are forming on the forsythia and dogwoods,
the phlox and redbuds and bradford pears are starting
to do their thing.
 It is glorious!

It was a perfect weekend with temperatures in the upper 70's,
blue skies and a slight breeze.
Spring is here!

I decided to give Roots & Wings a little springtime face lift!
{Hope you like it!}

I was inspired to put out my blue RWood platter
and I picked up some hydrangeas at Trader Joes, too.
They make me happy. :)

 Now for our news...
I shared with you about our chicken coop here
and introduced you to Chiclet.

Isn't she sweet and fluffy and hilarious?!
We chose her not only because Silkies are so interesting to look at,
but also because they are friendly and docile.
We have had a few other breeds, but she has been our favorite.
So when we made the decision to get more chickens,
we knew we wanted some Silkies.

We waited too long to order them from the breeder
and found out that they were sold out. :(
Kevin has been looking online for some in our area but without luck.
On Friday though, a phone call from a friend brought some good news.

To make a long story short,
we had the opportunity to buy some Silkie babies,
as well as two Sizzles (half Silkie, half frizzled Cochin).
Needless to say,
we jumped at the chance!

Here are the two Sizzles.
They are 9 weeks old.
They are quite funny looking now,
but when they are fully grown,
they will look like this:

And…
{drumroll, please…}

Here are the Silkie babies!
Aren't they so incredibly cute?!
I can hardly stand it!
They are between 3 and 4 weeks old.
We will keep them in the house under a heat lamp
for a few weeks until they are bigger,
then they will join the other girls in the coop.

{The girls are loving it!}

I'll be sure to keep you posted on their progress.
I know they are going to grow so fast!!

In case I don't make it back until April,
I wish you a beautiful couple of weeks!
xoxo
